A woman’s vagina is one of the most treasured parts in her body. Maintaining its texture, health and good smell on the other hand is not an easy task. As much as the vagina is ‘self-cleaning’, several aspects ought to be considered in maintaining it. Here are tips that will help you maintain it:
- Use Condoms.
Using condoms when having intercourse with a new partner is an effective way to protect yourself against STIs. Condoms also play a role in maintaining your vagina’s pH level thus ensuring bacteria in your vagina remains healthy. The bacteria plays a role in preventing yeast infections. Remember to clean off and or change your condom once you decide to switch from anal to vaginal sex. This prevents you from transferring any harmful bacteria from the anus to your vagina.

- Cleaning the Vagina.
‘Your vagina is self -cleaning’. This is a no brainer. The vagina has bacteria which maintains that cleansing process. Avoid using harsh soaps in the genital area since they increase risk of infections. Soaps and other chemicals can also be sensitive to the skin. You need to rinse your vagina with warm water to maintain it clean. Also, avoid douching otherwise you’ll interfere with your Vagina’s self-cleansing process.
Lubrication keeps your vagina moist as well as fighting any dryness off during intercourse. A dry vagina could lead to abrasions during sexual intercourse. Some lubes however, have harmful ingredients. Petroleum products for instance can ruin the vagina’s natural ph. Glycerin also impedes growth of unhealthy bacteria in the vagina.
