‘Stop the gossip and pass the blunt, it’s meditation time,’ every ganja lover’s dream. The first time I smoked pot I was just straight out of high school. I was young, naïve and caught up in a culture shock I couldn’t help but admire. It looked cool to do drugs, be insta-famous and hang around those hot Instagram babes. I had an experience I couldn’t explain, ‘meditation’, it was peaceful and calm, everything was moving slowly and it was as if I had entered another dimension altogether.
But then something wasn’t right. The ganja had ignited something primal inside me, I thought I was tripping but it became more persistent. I was constantly staring at a girls’ tits and turning my head to every ass that passed my way. Damn! I was horny! Stoned, horny and really confused! The next time I tried doing it again with my girlfriend around just to see if I was tripping the first time or not. Once again, I became this sex-crazed monster that I couldn’t explain. My crazy sex-fueled attempts before this had ended up in miserable failures that left me embarrassed and single.
But when I joined campus, I found out that this was actually a norm. I got a girlfriend who was into art and had an obsession with getting high and banging. We used to stay indoors stoned and would hump all day long. This was until I realized weed was making me more sex-driven than I usually am. I thought it was a mere myth but I was now realizing that it was having a significant impact on my sex life as we couldn’t even smash without getting high.
I came to find out that weed can actually makes you horny, increases your sense of touch and lowers your sexual inhibitions. Orgasms may even become more sensual. There might even be a stronger sense of connection to who you’re with, with sex being more ‘touchy and feely’. It stimulates increasing levels of dopamine in the brain that heighten pleasure and satisfaction. Dopamine usually responds to pleasurable stimuli. And that’s why it makes sex more pleasurable.
This has become a norm to an extent that nowadays weed is a sex starter pack among most youth. It’s no longer unusual to seduce a girl using weed as leverage. When a group of mixed genders smoke weed in an enclosed and private space, the chances of it ending up in banging party or an orgy are highly likely. This has been a constant story among youth in campuses, who only live to tell how it all started with a blunt.
It’s become a concern however since some sex predators are now preying on young girls using this tactic. With more innovative ways of packaging and consuming weed constantly coming up, it’s become even easier for them. Some people consume them in cookies, pancakes or even cake. After that, most girls end up making terrible decisions that haunt them for a lifetime. Unwanted pregnancies, cheating escapades, rape, orgies or even sexual abuse. And some of these sexually driven heinous acts start with just a blunt. Beware!
