WIN FOR THE LGBT COMMUNITY
Court of Appeal led by Justice Philip Waki, Asike Makhandia and Martha Koome ruled that The Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender community can now register their association.
Every human being should be treated fairly and The LGBT should not be discriminated either. How one chooses to live his or her life should not be a factor as to whether they can access their rights and freedom or not. Sexual orientation and gender identity is a personal affair.
The LGBT community has been fighting to register their association since it’s foundation in 2012, when the NGO coordination board first rejected their initial request in March 2013. This is definitely a big win for them. However, The Board rejected their application on the basis that Kenya’s Penal Code criminalizes gay and lesbian relationships.
